New Data Mining Software for Everyone

Provides Advanced "Rule Induction" Fact Discovery Engine for Windows 3.1, 95 and NT

SuperQuery Is An Important New Tool for End Users, Business Users, Researchers, and Analysts That Automatically Finds Patterns, Draws Graphs, and Calculates Statistics.

Fort Lee, NJ - July 28, 1997 - AZMY Thinkware Inc. today announced the release of SuperQuery, an important new analysis tool for all types of information, business planning and data analysis. SuperQuery provides "data mining" - the automatic extracting of useful information from raw data.

SuperQuery is the most powerful data mining product on the market for Windows 95 and NT - but while previously all data mining programs were available only for large database programs and cost thousands of dollars, SuperQuery is priced for use by everyone.

SuperQuery is easy to use and provides automatic data analysis that quickly finds patterns and establishes levels of confidence. SuperQuery provides the complete solution for "end user data analysis and data mining" by facilitating the exploring, analysis and graphing of data, and the discovering of any hidden patterns. SuperQuery is composed of three integrated facilities; the Fact-Discovery Engine, the Visual Query and Analysis Tool, and the Tab Organizer. (1) The Fact-Discovery Engine searches data tables and reports all interesting facts and exceptions in a textual or table form. (2) The Visual Query and Analysis tool creates different views of the data, automatically displays graphs and statistical data, using specified criteria and columns, and provides summaries. (3) The Tab Organizer presents an analysis by arranging data views, patterns, statistics and graphs. While the Pre-Release version was being tried by hundreds of users, SuperQuery was greatly enhanced with an Analysis Wizard and native support for Access, xBase, Paradox, Excel, Text formats, and were released simultaneously as versions 1.1 for Windows 3.1, and 1.2 for Windows 95 and NT.

At the introduction, Ashraf Azmy, President of AZMY Thinkware, said: "After over 3 years of product development, we have just completed the testing of SuperQuery. Overall, we are very pleased with the depth of relationships that our users have found within data of all types. SuperQuery is the first data mining product intended for end-users of all types, so our users include outstanding examples of large companies recognizing trends in large databases, and at the other end of the spectrum, with individual users finding useful information in their check book and expense account data. It is amazing how many trends are missed because Windows users have not had the tools available to them that are used by professional analysts such as our customers at the world's largest and most prestigious organizations."

Users are able to rapidly summarize and drill down their data with SuperQuery's "Summary Table" OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) facility, while SuperQuery's "Fact Discovery Engine" uses heuristics to systematically and automatically extract the most interesting facts and rules, and presents them for further study and reporting.

SuperQuery, with advanced "rule induction" (a branch of artificial intelligence that utilizes specialized algorithms for recognizing relationships) brings unprecedented facility to data mining and analysis. Data Mining is an emerging trend in data processing that searches for patterns and consistencies in data. As more and more users flock to the web for information, and with a wealth of information out there, data analysis is an increasingly necessary field to make sense of the wealth of information. Users do not need to know data analysis, statistics or advanced programming because SuperQuery hides the details.

Instead of releasing SuperQuery 1.0 after completion of testing, AZMY Thinkware chose to complete the Analysis Wizard before releasing SuperQuery to the public in Version 1.10 (16-bit) and Version 1.20 (32-bit). According to Mr. Azmy: "One of the major additions is the Analysis Wizard. SuperQuery did have a Wizard to help users read and query their data, but we wanted to help users all the way to knowledge discovery. So we added the Analysis Wizard that explains the process and does not leave you until you have discovered the hidden facts in your data. In addition, we now support DAO to provide our users with an easier alternative to ODBC. This means that our users can read data from Access, xBase, Paradox, Excel, and Text files directly without having to worry about ODBC. ODBC support is still there to support our users with other databases like Oracle and SQL Server."

Mr. Azmy continued: "From what we have seen from our beta testers, we know that SuperQuery is an easy and fun program to use. SuperQuery answers simple queries easily and intuitively but it really shines when the query is not defined at all, when the objective is to explore and discover."

SuperQuery 1.20 is a "32-bit application" and runs on any Windows 95 or NT desktop. SuperQuery requires a minimum of 8 MB of RAM and 5 MB of disk space, plus disk space for data and reports.

SuperQuery 1.10 is also available for users of Windows 3.x.

SuperQuery is priced at $449 per user, making it the first advanced data mining product for all Windows users. SuperQuery is available immediately from AZMY Thinkware.
