While the Pre-Release version was being tried by hundreds of users, we upgraded SuperQuery to 32-Bit, cleaned it up, added an analysis wizard and native support for Access, xBase, Paradox, Excel, Text formats and Prereleased version 1.20.
May 05, 1997 -- AZMY Thinkware Inc. announces the availability of SuperQuery version 1.20 Pre-Release. We had a very successful Pre-Release program for the 16-bit version 1.10. Hundreds of users did try SuperQuery and we got a few very valuable comments and suggestions. All of these ideas were incorporated in SuperQuery and the result is an enhanced 32-Bit program that is easier to use and more powerful.
One of the major additions is the Analysis Wizard. SuperQuery did have a Wizard to help users read and query their data. We wanted to help the user all the way to knowledge discovery. So we added this wizard that explains the process and does not leave you until you have discovered the hidden facts in your data.
The second major improvement is moving to the 32-Bit world and using DAO to provide our users with an easier alternative to ODBC. This means that our users can read data from Access, xBase, Paradox, Excel, and Text files directly without having to worry about ODBC. ODBC support is still there to support our users with other databases like Oracle and SQL Server.
From what we have seen from our v1.10 beta testers, we know that SuperQuery is an easy and fun program to use. It is designed from the beginning as a query and analysis tool for the analyst. We assume that you are exploring your data and you do not necessarily have a well-defined query. SuperQuery answers simple queries easily and intuitively but it really shines when the query is not defined at all, when the objective is to explore and discover.
After a short pre-release period for version 1.20, SuperQuery will be released simultaneously in two versions 1.10 for 16-bit Windows 3.x and version 1.20 for 32-bit Windows 95, and NT.
